The family of Beverly Blagg has owned the Flying X River Ranch on the banks of the Colorado River for over four decades. This working cattle ranch sits in one of the most highly desirable areas of Central Texas. This 633-acre ranch provides valuable habitat for many of the iconic wildlife species of Texas, including whitetail deer, turkey, quail and dove. Ms. Blagg decided the ranch, situated only 35 miles from Austin in the Texas Hill Country, will remain intact forever.

As the second generation owner of the ranch, Ms. Blagg saw the opportunity to protect her property from the rapid development coming from Austin and Marble Falls by working in partnership with the Colorado River Land Trust. Ms. Blagg said, “I just didn’t want this ranch developed. This is exactly what I need to have done.”

The diverse mix of habitats, including native grasses and large live oak trees, provide an excellent wildlife habitat and forage for cattle and horses raised by the family. The ranch's close proximity to the Colorado River makes its conservation vital to protecting the water quality and quantity of the river and the Trinity Aquifer. Ms. Blagg’s dedication to protecting her family’s property will ensure the Flying X River Ranch remains an essential piece of the Texas Hill Country.
